It’s been a while since I last posted anything here. Sorry about that! Life has been a little busier of late, and I’ve been preoccupied with other things – but no excuse.
There is some teaching that I’ve encountered of late, and I’d like to get some feedback on it. I won’t go into it, but let me put this verse of Scripture out there and get your responses to it. It’s from Exodus 20:5-6: “You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.” Much has been made about this with regard to how the sins of our ancestors (parents, grandparents) affect us. I must say that I’m not comfortable with this kind of teaching. But I want to see what others think about it before I make further comment.
Blessings,
David
Hi David, I have just walked out on a meeting at our church today as a result of them teaching that generational curses are on us even when we are in Christ. I became born again when i was 16 and believe that I am in Christ, filled with the Holy Spirit and that Christ has set me free indeed, Free from what my previous generations have done. I alone stand accountable for my sins.
